Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is the Teens Excelling Beyond Foundation?

Teens Excelling Beyond is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt, nonprofit organization. that provides various services to teenage girls impacted by trauma, poverty, and homelessness in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and surrounding areas. The organization was created for underserved teen girls, with the objective of enriching their lives after trauma with coaching, education, training, and character-building opportunities. The specific services provided to our girls are mental health resources, mentoring, life skills training, health and wellness support, and therapeutic groups (self-esteem training, mood stability, stress management, etc.). Beyond these core offerings, the organization has developed a 24-hour residential group home that provides structured long-term support to homeless teen girls in deep need.

Teens Excelling Beyond believes they can eradicate the adverse outcomes endured by many teen girls facing trauma, one support and opportunity at a time.

Is homelessness a problem in Oklahoma?

Yes and in the United States. Currently there are about 2.5 million homeless children in the United States and over 26,000+ alone in Oklahoma. Oklahoma is ranked as the 7th worst state for homeless children. Teens Excelling Beyond’s House of Home aims to change that one child at a time. We want to keep them out of shelters, cars and hotels but providing a safe haven to grow and learn.

What are other concerns in Oklahoma that Teens Excelling Beyond is looking to address?

We want to prevent school dropout rates (currently Oklahoma is at a 5.5% dropout rate), human trafficking (Oklahoma is ranked 26th worst state for human trafficking cases) and teen pregnancy. Teen pregnancy is specifically closely linked to a number of critical social issues such as poverty, educational attainment and increased health care costs. We touch on all of these at some point during our group/1:1 sessions and I AM MORE events.
